My Happy Place

Scott and I spent this last weekend in sunny St. George, for a break from life and a chance to really spend some time together without a baby. This was really our last opportunity to do this since I am now in my 31st week of pregnancy, and with baby showers on the weekends. I am so grateful we did it, even though money is extremely tight right now. We were very blessed to be able to stay with our friends Mori and Quint Jensen so we didn't have to spend money on a hotel room, which are very pricey nowadays. Also, our wonderful friends Amanda and Allen watched our dog Sydney for the weekend, and so I didn't have to worry about her. I treat her like she is my baby girl, so it's always hard for me to leave her. So needless to say, we were blessed, and I am truly grateful, because I needed this so badly.
St. George is my happy place. A place I can go when the cold, dark, bleak months of winter deplete me of my inner sunshine. I am pretty certain I have a condition known as SAD, which is Seasonal Affective Disorder. Basically, I get depressed when the sun don't shine, and can't shake the blues until I get some UV rays. I call it recharging my batteries. I did this on Dixie Rock. Laying there on that rock with the sun on cascading on my whole body was pure happiness and bliss. I needed it so much, and it completely lit me up.
Friday was a beautiful day in St. George. Saturday it hailed, but luckily we were in the temple doing sealings when it came on, and it only lasted for a couple hours. We missed the storm here up north, which I am so grateful for because I think it would have tipped me over the edge. Sunday was absolutely lovely, and we spent a great deal of it outside, just soaking up those rays.
We also got to spend some time with my parents, who also happened to be in St. George for a business trip. It was nice to go out to eat with them to Samarai 21 (which has amazing japanese food and cooking entertainment) and The Bear Claw (which has AMAZING breakfast).
I absolutely love St. George, and would move there in a heartbeat if I could convince my husband that 3 months of extreme heat really isn't that bad, when you consider the other 9 months of beautiful weather. Maybe someday we will move there, but till then, it is my solitude, my escape, my happy place, and I am so grateful it exists.

Glad you had a good time! I'm jealous---so in need of a vacation and sunny weather! :) However, being only 35 days from D-day...I'll have to wait! :) Glad you are taking advantage of the time before he comes though...because you won't have that chance again! :) Even if we wanted to try to get away--it's harder after you already have one kid! :) (however, that won't stop us in the near future I hope!) :)
