A little about Latissa Marie Graham

I was asked to write about myself for a lady in Relief Society. I read through it, and decided this would be a good blog posting, so here it is.

My full name is Latissa Marie Graham. My name is unique, and I would like to tell you where it came from. When my mom was little, she used to wish and dream and hope and pray for a little sister. She had 2 younger brothers, but wanted a little sister so badly. One night she had a dream. She dreamed that a little girl appeared to her and introduced herself as Latissa and said that my mom would not have a sister, but that she would be my mother's daughter someday. When my mom woke up, she ran and told my Grandma about the dream, and that she was going to have a little girl named Latissa. My Grandma thought my mom would forget about it, but she never did. When my mom became pregnant for the first time, she knew it was me, and it was. So that is where my name comes from.

I am the oldest of 4 children. I have 2 brothers and 1 sister, and I love them all very much. I am very close to my family. They live in Cedar Hills so I see them often. I grew up with music in my home, and developed a strong love for it. I played the violin for 8 years, all through Jr. High and High School, was involved in musical theater, sang in multiple choirs including Acapella, where I met my husband on choir tour. We dated a few months before his mission. I did not intend to wait for him. I went to Dixie State College for 2 years and almost married someone else. One night when I was talking with my parents about marrying this other man, my Dad said, "For some reason I feel a strong urge to mention Scott Graham's name." I looked at him with shock and surprise. My parents barely met him before he left on his mission, and I hadn't even written him for months. But after my Dad mentioned his name, I couldn't get him out of my head. I tried to ignore it, but eventually I ended up getting on my knees with much annoyance to pray and see if I needed to wait for Scott to get home. The second I started praying, I felt a huge feeling of warmth and strong feeling that I needed to wait, and that the other guy I was seeing was not the one. I got up from that prayer and instantly wrote Scott and told him all about what was happening. I asked him if he felt that there was anyway that he would want to date me when he got home. If there wasn't, then I would marry this other guy. But if there was, I would wait. I mailed that letter and was instantly horrified at what he would think when he read it. He was going to think I was nuts!! I ran home and emailed him and said that I had just wrote him a letter, and that the second he received it, he needed to email me his response, because I could not wait for it to come in the mail. (Canada post takes forever) When he responded, he said he always intended on dating me when he got back if I was still available, and that he prayed about it, and he felt that whatever I was feeling was right, and I should follow that, whether it was to wait for him or marry this other guy. Needless to say, I waited, and the second I saw him when he got home, we both knew it was just a matter of time before we would get married. 7 months later, we did!

Another cool fact: Scott was born the same day and time my parents got married in the SLC temple. I have fun imagining me up in heaven trying to watch both events. My parents wedding or my husband's birth! How fun!

I still have a passion for music, and am currently taking voice lessons from my Grandma who was in the Mormon Tabernacle choir for 22 years, and piano lessons from my mother. I work as a Massage Therapist in my home, and have my own private practice. I love my job! I love to read and crochet and write and am currently learning how to sew a baby blanket. I am 24 weeks pregnant and due May 22 with my first child, who is a baby boy named Carson James. I cannot wait to be a mother. I love living here and am very happy with my life!
